We will be to ensure that we retain a local focus for students in the diverse communities we serve and that we continue to make the best contribution we can to keep the economy buoyant. We are providing good quality education on the doorsteps of the areas we cover, including Stourbridge and Brierley Hill, Kidderminster and of course throughout Birmingham and we’re working closely with Local Enterprise Partnership to further develop plans for growth.
For school leavers in particular, it's an exciting time to be living and studying in the Midlands with lots of opportunity for growth in the region. Through our wide range of Vocational courses, A Levels, Centres of Excellence and Academies we have built a strong educational infrastructure in support of the skills needed in our local areas in the future. Whilst we are investing heavily in improving facilities for students, our aim through excellent teaching and learning will be to ensure that anyone leaving school will enjoy their learner journey and will leave equipped with employability skills, qualifications and practical knowledge that will help them progress to higher education or employment.
Birmingham Metropolitan College is governed by a Corporation consisting of members drawn from the community and operating in accordance with the model Instrument and Articles of Governance laid down by Parliament for all Further Education institutions in England. Membership also includes staff and students who are nominated and elected by their respective bodies. The Corporation meets at least once every term and in addition there are committees for Audit, Finance and Business Development, Academic Standards & Quality Development, Governance and Search, Remuneration Committee, and a Framework Review Committee. All committees report their recommendations to the full Corporation for approval.
